Developing Different Types of Workplace Skills
Career success requires a combination of different types of skills. Although the terms used may vary, workplace skills fall into three general categories:
Job Skills - specific to the tasks of a position, such as operating a machine; sometimes called “technical skills”
Soft Skills - sometimes called “Professional Skills”; relate to how you handle yourself in a work environment regardless of position or role
Transferable Skills - specific to a given role, such as managing a budget
